Bird Nest Removal Services
Bird nest removal can be extremely challenging. They can at times be the most challenging part of a chimney sweeps job, in terms of the patience required and the energy and time exerted. Bird nest removals are much more taxing on the equipment used too. It is not unusual to remove numerous bags of nesting material at a time.
If the nest has been caught early, after one season, usually the nest can be broken through and removed in good time. If the nest is the consequence of numerous seasons over time, year on year the jackdaws will bring more and more nesting material, strengthening the nest further and further. Eventually the materials lower down rot and turn to soil, which acts as a foundation with woven layers above. Jackdaws are extremely intelligent and social creatures and exceptionally good at building nests!
To remove most nests access to the roof is required.
We recommend our terminal / cowl installation service as part of this service, as there is an extremely high likelihood that without fitting a terminal to prevent birds accessing the flue, they will return on the next nesting season to rebuild. Usually when Jackdaws choose a spot, they commit to that spot and will return unless otherwise prevented. If a cowl is not fitted, then you will likely need a birds nest removal a second time.
Of course, if you have already made arrangements for preventative measures to be implemented once the nest is removed, you can simply book the nest removal and continue with your plans; but if no preparations have been made for this, we strongly advise going with the nest removal + cowl fitting option, otherwise you are very likely find yourself repeating this process in the near future.
