EcoDesign Ready Stoves
The EcoDesign scheme was introduced in 2017 and has since become a widely recognised scheme, being put into regulation for solid fuel appliances in 2022.
The scheme focuses on emissions and efficiency, requiring stoves to meet strict limits on emissions of harmful gases and particulates. Specifically it challenges stove manufacturers to ensure their stove emits only certain restricted levels of NOx, CO, PM (Particulate Matter) and OGCs (Organic Gaseous Compounds).
For more information on the EcoDesign scheme you can visit the Stove Industry Alliance (S.I.A) who founded the scheme. But in general, an EcoDesign ready stove gives you the peace of mind that the emissions of the stove when in use, are within the reasonable limits outlined by the scheme, and any stoves which are not able to burn this cleanly will not comply with EcoDesign.
